Can your awnings be used in the rain?

Although folding awnings can cope with light showers, you should never have any awning extended during prolonged or heavy rain as the weight of the water will stretch the fabric and, in extreme cases, the weight of water building up on the fabric can potentially damage the awning hardware or even cause damage to your wall.

All awning manufacturer guarantees state that folding arm awnings should be set to a minimum pitch (angle) of 14 degrees from the horizontal. Any damage arising from mis-use or from being set at a shallower angle will not only be at the your own risk, but will render your guarantee void.
